October & Halloween Events: 2023

As we enter October, the temperatures are falling and the days are getting shorter, bringing with them all the wonderful family-friendly October events we look forward to every year!

For 2023, we are including a list of pumpkin patches, trunk or treat events, and some Spooky Halloween Festivals for those looking for more of a scare!

Pumpkin Patches

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch | Culver City, CA

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City is one of the better in-city pumpkin patches in the area. This pumpkin patch features loads of pumpkins, wagons for strolling your pumpkins (or munchkins) around the patch, a petting zoo, and even a small maze! Aside from the loads of photo stations, you will have with all the cutely decorated structures, there is also face painting, pumpkin decorating, a bounce house, and food trucks.

Service to start Oct 5th – 29th daily from 9 am to 9 pm. Note that parking (paid) can be an issue on weekends and closer to the end of the month.

Pa’s Pumpkin Patch | Long Beach, CA

Pa’s Pumpkin Patch in Long Beach provides a county-fair atmosphere with a wide variety of pumpkins, rides, activities, and photo stations! With food, a petting zoo, and a variety of games and rides, there is fun for everyone at this pumpkin patch!

Pa’s Pumpkin Patch is open as of Sept 29th and does require a reservation.

Mr. Jack O’ Lantern’s Pumpkin Patch | Torrance, CA

Mr. Jack O’ Lantern’s Pumpkin Patch has several locations, but this would be specifically for the patch in Torrance. This patch offers tons of activities such as pumpkin decorating, pumpkin bowling, photo stations, animal feeding, bouncy house and more. One awesome thing about this patch is it offers FREE PARKING!

Mr. Jack O’ Lantern’s Pumpkin Patch is now open from 11 am – 8 pm Mon-Thu, and 10 am – 9 pm Fri – Sun.

Honorable Mention: Irvine Railorad Park | Irvine, CA

Although it is obviously located outside of the South Bay, the Irvine Railroad Park provides a fantastic pumpkin patch in the fall. Complete with an actual 1/3rd scale Steam*(electric Powered) Locomotive that runs through the beautiful Irvine Regional Park!

Attractions include a wide variety of photo stations, pumpkins, games, pony rides, bike/ boat rentals, and much more! Parking is paid but typically plentiful, though it can take a long time to actually get into the park if you arrive during peak times.

Trunk or Treat Events

Harvest Festival and Trunk or Treat | Rancho Palos Verdes

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is having its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday Oct 22nd from 12 pm – 4 pm! Entertainment includes live music, arts and crafts vendors, jumper houses, face paintings, food trucks, and of course trunk or treating & more! Costumes are encouraged.

Trunk or Treat Spooky Hearse Cruise-in | El Segundo

The Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum is having a Trunk or Treat and Spooky Hearse Cruise-In event on Sunday, October 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. “Ghouls and Goblins” of all ages are invited to participate. The festivities also include “costume contests, folkloric dancers, arts and crafts, a hearse cruise-in, and local vendors selling their spooky concoctions.” Admission is free for children 10 and under.

Halloween Festivals

Shaqtoberfest Halloween Festival at The Queen Mary | Long Beach

Shaqtoberfest Halloween Festival at The Queen Mary started in 2022 and replaced the former Halloween Festival known as Haunted Harbor hosted in the same location after shutting down due to the pandemic. Shaqtoberfest has much of what Haunted Harbor offered, such as haunted mazes, live DJ performances, themed bars & lounges and more!

This event is catered towards older teens and young adults, so keep that in mind.
